Grizzly Jacket: The 10th Anniversary Edition

GRIZZLY JACKET Front

GRIZZLY JACKET Back

There is a special product at Y'2 Leather, released only once every five years to celebrate the anniversary of our founding: the Grizzly Jacket. We are thrilled to announce that the latest model will be available this season as well!

This year marks the 27th year of our founding as a brand– hey, wait a minute! Our anniversary product, and it's not even at the 5-year mark? Y'2's first Grizzly Jacket was released in 2015. Due to the complex manufacturing process, it was established as an anniversary-limited product. But this is also the 10th year since we began selling the jacket, marking its 10th birthday. That’s why we set out to make an exceptionally special model for the occasion.

To be honest, each time I put my arms through the sleeves of a leather jacket, I always get lost in thought about the possibilities. “We should make a slimmer pattern.” “The stitches here could be smaller.” “This jacket would be so cool with a different type of leather.” And on and on. This led to my idea of the special model of the Grizzly Jacket. “An all-black Grizzly made out of deerskin would be awesome!” I couldn't hold back my daydreams, and the very next day I declared my plans to the team. The project kicked off right away. And now, I already have the sample right in my hands.

Each release of the Grizzly Jacket has used a consistent design, but variations in the main material, color scheme, and lining combinations. The latest model also stands out from previous ones, using all black for an elegant, mature look. Of course, we used sheep fur, for its dense quality, and dyed it black. This time though, instead of using horsehide to match reference vintage models, we used black-dyed deerskin for the leather parts. I thought I already had a deep appreciation for deerskin, but a visit to Fujioka Yukichi Honten (which you may remember from a recent blog post) sparked in me a renewed passion for the material. With a minimal finish, their deerskin expresses both lightness and sophistication, qualities I was driven to capture in the Grizzly Jacket.

The lining uses an unpatterned fabric to complement the black body, and is made from a crisp-textured British wool (wool-rayon blend, quilted with 60g padding. The concealed ribs at the cuffs and the stitching both use black for overall consistency. For the zipper, instead of the brass finish for previous models, we chose a nickel finish for the first time, giving it a chic appearance like never before. Of course, the sleeves feature nylon quilting, and a flap on the front zipper ensures ample insulation and windproofing to make it through the winter.

Serial Number's Label

And so we present to you the special issue of our Grizzly Jacket, with an all-black theme for an unprecedented chic look, using Fujioka Yukichi Honten's deerskin instead of horsehide, and a comfortable fit that surpasses expectations.
