DEER SKIN SHIRTS JACKET DS-10

We’re pleased to announce that delivery of the DEER SKIN SHIRTS JACKET has started this week.

This piece was inspired by a chance encounter with a vintage jacket we discovered at our dealer, MAVAZI (https://shop.mavazi.jp/
).
At that time, we were exploring a new concept that could serve as an alternative to the classic western-style deerskin shirt—and this vintage piece was exactly what we were looking for.

From there, we began refining the design, identifying details to improve such as:
“Since there’s no lining, leather dust may appear.”
“It would be more versatile as a shirt jacket if it had waist pockets.”
“If we add waist pockets, the chest pockets should be made a bit smaller.”

Among all these adjustments, the most challenging part was the zipper end at the hem.
Originally, we wanted to use rivets for the fastening, but we had concerns about durability.
Instead, the rivets were incorporated decoratively, while the hem flap was made double-layered for added strength.
As a result, the leather became thicker than expected, so we carefully adjusted the thickness to achieve the perfect balance.

We believe we’ve succeeded in creating a piece that retains the essence of vintage craftsmanship, while offering modern wearability and comfort.

The original vintage sample was also made from deerskin, and we were surprised to find how closely its color matched ours.
The silhouette is not as tight as a traditional western shirt, making it easy to style as either a shirt or a light jacket.
