Y’2 LEATHER|Aging & Leather Materials – Part 2
A leather jacket looks impressive the moment you pick it up.
But we believe its true beauty reveals itself only after you’ve lived in it.
Today, we bring you Part 2 of “Aging & Leather Materials” from Y’2 LEATHER.
If you haven’t seen Part 1 yet, we encourage you to take a look:

(Featured items are mainly models introduced in “HailMary Magazine.”)
① Eco Horse G-Jacket Black[EB-141]
Provided by CELLULOID / Worn for approx. 2 years
※ The second-type G-jacket is no longer in production.
② Eco Horse G-Jacket Olive[EB-140]
Provided by LUA / Worn for approx. 3 years
Eco Horse was created with inspiration from the raw, rugged horsehide of the 1930s.
We tan the leather thoroughly using tannins and oils, tightly shrinking it by nearly 20%.
This process gives the material its unmistakable thickness and firmness.
As you wear it, the leather slowly loosens and softens,
emitting a characteristic “kyu-kyu” sound as it begins to mold perfectly to your body.
The thickness averages around 1.8 mm, with some parts exceeding 2 mm.
At first, bending your arms may leave bruises, and fastening the buttons might even hurt your fingertips—
but the more you wear it, the more it becomes a leather jacket that fits only you.
Take a look at the aging photos.
A once matte surface develops a deep shine, and its natural grain begins to rise beautifully.
No special treatment is required.
Just wear it with love, and it will become your lifelong companion.
③ Vintage Horse Single Riders Black[HR-41]
Provided by LAHAINA / Worn for approx. 3 years
Vintage Horse is finished using a pigmented coating.
The underlayer is dyed brown, then sealed with black on top—
and as you wear it, the brown slowly emerges, creating a classic, timeworn look.
The jacket initially has a glossy finish,
but with use, the gloss settles and softens, giving it a rich vintage character.
The piece shown is a great example of how beautifully this material ages.
④ Aniline Horse Work Jacket Cherry[LS-16]
Y’2 LEATHER Collection / Worn for approx. 3 years
Aniline Horse is tanned and finished with abundant oils,
dyed exclusively with aniline dye, without using any pigment.
This results in a transparent, lustrous finish and a rich, oily feel—
qualities unique to full aniline leather.
We often receive questions about the difference between Eco Horse and Aniline Horse.
To put it simply:
Aniline Horse is softer than Eco Horse
It has elegant shine and depth
It pairs beautifully with tailored jackets, coats, or refined designs like this work jacket
The leather starts with a strong gloss,
which gradually softens as you wear it,
and then slowly gains rich luster again on high-movement areas like the sleeves.
A leather jacket may look striking on day one,
but its true character emerges only after it has absorbed your time, your habits, and your everyday life.
As shown throughout Part 1 and Part 2,
every piece evolves differently depending on the wearer—
their lifestyle, their climate, and even their quirks.
Our commitment to carefully selecting hides,
to traditional tanning,
and to meticulous craftsmanship—
sometimes choosing only one usable hide out of a hundred—
is all for one purpose:
To create leather that becomes more beautiful the longer you wear it.
Leather never lies.
It slowly, steadily transforms alongside you.
You don’t need special knowledge or complicated care routines.
Simply wear it with affection.
That alone will bring out the finest aging.
One jacket in the world—
shaped by your warmth, your days, and your journey.
A true “partner” meant to accompany you for years to come.
We hope your Y’2 LEATHER piece will grow with you,
and reach its most beautiful expression over time.
