PERSIMMON HORSE
Have you seen the "Y'2LEATHER Aging Study" featured in the November 2023 issue of HailMary Magazine, which went on sale at the end of last month?
This is a project that we have been wanting to do for some time now, and we have been receiving feedback from various quarters.
Aging" is an indispensable keyword for leather jackets.
It is a fascinating word, but don't get too attached to it.
There is no right answer to the aging process of any leather jacket, and every leather jacket worn with love and care is wonderful.
Please enjoy the leather jacket season with your favorite one. (Many of you have more than one jacket!).
I would like to explain about "persimmon tannin hose" this time.
Kakishibu (persimmon tannin) is very difficult to dye on leather.
We have succeeded in dyeing horsehide, which is Y2's main material.
It is a natural material that is finished only with persimmon tannin dye, without using any pigments.
Because it is a natural dye, it is a material that is less burdensome to the environment.
After full-vegetable tanning, the leather is dyed with persimmon tannin, which brings out the scratches and scuffs on the original leather.
The scratches and scuffs are almost invisible when pigment is used, but the original feel and texture of the leather is diminished.
Such scratches and scuffs cannot be hidden and may be included in the product.
*We do not accept returns or cancellations due to flaws or other reasons.
Please check the product carefully before purchase.
The material is sensitive to ultraviolet rays. Please be careful with fluorescent lights when storing the product.
(We recommend storing the garments in the garments provided at the time of purchase.)
Scratches and scuffs will show up on this material, but by adding persimmon tannin dye, it will age differently from saddle hose.
Furthermore, we use a brush to apply the persimmon tannin dye again at the end of the dyeing process, or "twice dyeing".
This process increases the concentration of persimmon tannin in the leather.
Please see the leather jacket in the image.

A customer of Celluloid wears this jacket.
With no maintenance, the color has darkened to this level and a three-dimensional effect has been achieved.
We are looking forward to seeing it 5 to 10 years from now.
Please take a look at the article in Hail Mary, which is now on sale.
Next time, we will introduce "Indigo Horse.
